Background

I began teaching at Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2023. Prior to coming to WLC I spent over two decades providing economic and market guidance to investors of all types. The bulk of this time was spent at Baird, a Milwaukee-based financial services firm. I was a Managing Director, Investment Strategist and a member of the Investment Policy Committee. During my time at Baird, I helped launch a suite of tactical ETF portfolios, actively managing $400 million in client assets. Just prior to joining the WLC faculty, I launched Hi Mount Research, which remains in operation and provides institutional-level insights and dynamic portfolio guidance to independent advisors and investors.

Over the course of my career, I have appeared on Fox Business and CNBC and have been quoted in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. I still make occasional media and keynote speaking appearances, including as a featured guest on a variety of podcasts. When not teaching or talking about the market, I enjoy tending our urban garden, baking bread, and making homemade wine.

My research interests include using evidence-based approaches to help investors manage risk and understanding the role of emotion in the financial markets and investor decision making.
